Setup of SoftActivity Keylogger with AVG Antivirus and Antispyware
UPDATE: as of version 5 of SoftActivity Keylogger, there are no known compatibility issues with AVG security software. You may simply install SoftActivity Keylogger on your computer to monitor your kids. No additional actions required.
UPDATE: (Sept 2012) Since version 6.0 of SoftActivity Keylogger we recommend to exclude the following folder: C:\Windows\syspkgwk. This will prevent your antivirus from detecting any new threats in future in SoftActivity Keylogger files on your computer. Instructions below are for older versions of SoftActivity Keylogger.
Before downloading SKL temporary disable Resident Shield of AVG antivirus.
Step 1. Disable real-time protection
Right click on AVG tray icon and select Open AVG User Interface command (Or select AVG Free User Interface in Start menu)
In AVG User Interface dialog double click Resident Shield item:
Switch off Resident Shield active option on the appeared Resident Shield Component page:
and then press Save changes button
Step 2. Download and install SoftActivity Keylogger
After SoftActivity Keylogger is installed you should add it to all exclusion lists of AVG
Step 3: Add SKL to all exclusion lists
Open AVG User Interface
Select Tools -> Advanced settings… menu item
In Advanced AVG Settings window select PUP Exceptions category. It is need to add SoftActivity Keylogger’s files to the exceptions list.
All these files should be added one by one:
alogcfg.exe
alsvc.exe
alsys.exe
logviewer.exe
unins000.exe
To add file press Add exception button, then press
button and select the file using Select file window. Here are the screenshots of adding the alogcfg.exe file. All other files should be added in the same way:
Select the folder where you have installed SoftActivity Keylogger (by default it is C:\Program Files\SoftActivity\SKL) and then select the file itself (double click on it or press Open button):

File will be added to Exception Definition window. Press Add button to add it to the list of exceptions:
After you have added all needed files, Potentially Unwanted Programs Exceptions list should looks like this:
Then select Resident Shield -> Exceptions category and press Add Path button. In Browse For Folder window select the folder where you did install the program (by default it is C:\Program Files\SoftActivity\SKL) and press OK button.
So directory will be added to list like shown below:
Save all changes. Press OK button to save all settings.
Now all exceptions were added and you can enable real-time protection.
Double click Resident Shield item on the AVG User Interface window :
Check Resident Shield active option on the appeared Resident Shield Component page and then press Save changes button:
