To prevent any possible conflicts in future with this antivirus, you may exclude SoftActivity folder from scans in ESET NOD32 Antivirus. Follow the steps below to exclude SoftActivity folder.

1. Temporary disable real-time protection of the antivirus

a. Click ESET NOD32 Antivirus icon in system tray and select Open window command:

b. In the appeared window select Setup tab and click Toggle Advanced mode :

c. Click Antivirus and antispyware protection link:

d. Click on Disable link for Real-time file system protection :

This will disable real-time protection of the antivirus.

2. Install SoftActivity software

3. Add exclusions as described below

Click ESET NOD32  icon in system tray and select Open window command. Then select Setup tab, enter in Antivirus and antispyware protection and click Edit exclusions link :

In the appeared window you can add SoftActivity folder to exclusions. Press Add button, select C:\Program Files\SoftActivity folder in file or folder selection dialog and press OK:

(For 64bit version of Windows you need to select C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftActivity folder )

SoftActivity folder will be added to exclusions lists. Press OK in Setup window to save all changes:

Then you can enable real-time protection of ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 . For this open Antivirus and antispyware protection page in main window of the antivirus click Enable link for Real-time file system protection:

Finally you can change Advanced display mode back to Standard mode by clicking Change… link at the bottom of the window.

Right click avast! icon in system tray and select avast! shield control – Disable for 1 hour command:

2. Install SoftActivity software

3. Add exclusions as described below

In the appeared window click SETTINGS button, then select Exclusions item and click the browse button. File or folder selection dialog will appear.

You need to select SoftActivity folder which will be added to exceptions and press OK:

(For 64bit version of Windows you need to select C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftActivity folder )

SoftActivity folder will be added to exclusions. Press OK to save changes:

Additionally you should add SoftActivity folder to File System Shield exceptions.

For this select REAL-TIME SHIELD tab, then File System Shield item and press Expert Settings button.

In the appeared FILE SYSTEM SHIELD SETTINGS window select Exclusions item and press browse button on new row in the list of exclusions. Then you need to point avast! to SoftActivity folder as described earlier.

Press OK to save new SoftActivity exclusion for File System Shield:

Then you can enable avast! real-time protection. For this right click avast! icon and select avast! shields control – Enable all shields command:

To prevent any possible conflicts in future with this antivirus, you may exclude SoftActivity folder from scans in Avira. Follow the steps below to exclude SoftActivity folder.

1. Temporary disable real-time protection of AntiVir

Right click AntiVir icon in system tray and select AntiVir Guard enable command:

3. Add exclusions as described below

In the appeared window check on Expert mode option, then select Scanner – Scan – Exceptions item and click the file browse button:

Then you need to select SoftActivity folder which will be added to exceptions and press OK:

Additionally you should add SoftActivity folder to Guard exceptions.

For this select Guard – Scan – Exceptions item, press file browse button on File objects to be omitted by the Guard panel and select SoftActivity folder as shown above.

After the folder is selected press Add >> button to add it to exclusions:

Finally press OK in configuration dialog to save and apply all changes. SoftActivity folder is added to all exclusion lists of Avira AntiVir 10.0.

Then you can enable AntiVir Guard.

You need to do it on computers where you are planning to install Activity Monitor and Agent before the installation. If you add exclusions after installation, you may need to reinstall Activity Monitor again, as it could be already damaged by the antivirus.

You may also need to create a Firewall Rule for Activity Monitor and Agent.

4. Click Add and select Spyware.ActivMonAgent, then repeat and add Spyware.ActMon exclusion:

5. You should have these 2 exclusions in Signature Exclusions list:

6. Click OK. Now you are ready to install Activity Monitor or Activity Monitor Agent on this computer

Firewall Rules for Activity Monitor and Agent in Norton 360

1. If you can not see Agent in list in Activity Monitor as online or can not connect to it, you need to add a Firewall Rule in Norton 360. Click Settings in Norton 360, then click Firewall, switch to Program Rules tab. Otherwise firewall may be blocking all communications between Activity Monitor and Agent(s).

2. On computer with Activity Monitor installed Allow communications for swatcher.exe and collectlogs.exe modules from Program Files\SoftActivity folder:

3. On computers with Agent installed allow communications for amsvc.exe module in Agent folder C:\Program Files\SoftActivity\AMsys\

1. Open Norton Antivirus main window and click Settings in Computer panel:

2. In Settings window click Configure next to Signature Excludes:

3. In Signature Exclusions windows click Add button. Select Spyware from the dropdown on top then select Spyware.ActivMonAgent in the list, and click Add:

4. Now Click Add once again in Signature Exclusions window to add one more exclude. Then select Spyware.ActMon and click Add:

5. After this click OK, OK and you may close Norton Antivirus window.

6. Then you can download or copy Activity Monitor or Agent files to this computer and install them. Norton will ignore presence of Activity Monitor and will not delete it or notify users

If you export the log to Excel you will see keystrokes as a comment for the Computer column. Please move your mouse cursor over small red triangles:

If  you select Create desktop icon and Start menu group, it will only be visible to the user account under which you install SoftActivity Keylogger. Other users will not be able to see these icons. If  you want to monitor people that share the same user account with you, than you should select  Don’t create Start menu f0lder and uncheck Create Desktop icon check boxes during installation.

If the icons are already created during installation you can still remove them using the following steps.

Note that after you remove icons and Start menu group, you can start SoftActivity Keylogger Configuration by running C:\Program Files\SoftActivity\SKL\alogcfg.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftActivity\SKL\alogcfg.exe file from Windows Explorer or from Start menu->Run.

Move mouse pointer over the icon and right click it. In the appeared menu select Delete command. Icon will be deleted from the desktop.

To remove the icon from Start menu right click it and select Delete in the appeared menu.

To remove SoftActivity Keylogger from Add/Remove section of Control Panel please run regedit.exe and remove this section:

If you will need to uninstall SoftActivity Keylogger you can run the program C:\Program Files\SoftActivity\SKL\unins000.exe

To start regedit.exe select Start menu -> Run… (for Windows XP and older) or type the command in “Start search” filed (for Windows Vista and newer). Press Enter to run the exe:

In appeared Registry Editor you need to select the section mentioned above. First select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder(double click it):

Then select SOFTWARE folder :

Then select Microsoft folder :

And then open all other needed folders (Windows, CurrentVersion, Uninstall). At last step select {F166CABE-0F32-4BE8-95BD-3E540C21A5DD}_is1 folder and right click it. Select Delete command in the appeared window. Then close Registry Editor. SoftActivity Keylogger’s icon will be removed from Add/Remove sections of Control Panel.

After you remove icons and Start menu group, you can start SoftActivity Keylogger Configuration by running C:\Program Files\SoftActivity\SKL\alogcfg.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\SoftActivity\SKL\alogcfg.exe file from Windows Explorer or from Start menu->Run. Simply navigate to this folder C:\Program Files\SoftActivity\SKL\ and click alogcfg.exe

It requests for user’s full name, email and the registration key that was used to activate the software. It allows then to download newest version of Activity Monitor software. You will also see expiration date of your subscription to updates and support.

If your updates and support subscription has expired the system will offer an easy option to renew your subscription for 1 more year.

As an authorized user of the computer you can prevent Norton Antivirus from detecting SoftActivity Keylogger and notifying monitored users. To install SoftActivity Keylogger on your computer to monitor your kids you need to add some excludes in Norton Antivirus. Follow instructions below to add required exclusions. The instructions are similar for Norton Antivirus 2012/2011/2010/2009, but the actual user interface has minor differences.

Temporary disable AntiVirus Auto-Protect of Norton Antivirus before downloading of SoftActivity Keylogger:

Right click Norton’s icon in the system tray and select Disable AntiVirus Auto-Protect

You’ll be asked about the duration. Select “Until system restart” – so protection will be enabled after next Windows start.

Now you can download and install SoftActivity Keylogger (see here for details)

After you have installed and configured the keylogger you need to add files to all exclusion lists of Norton Antivirus.

1. Right click Norton’s icon and select Open Norton Antivirus command

6. Reboot your PC or simply enable protection in Norton Antivirus. SoftActivity Keylogger should not be detected or blocked anymore.
