Version 15.0 is a major release with important security improvements, a new External Agent mode for remote monitoring without a VPN, database upgrades, and multiple performance and usability enhancements. If you are using an earlier version, we recommend upgrading to get the latest updates.

Major security hardening:
Improved security for Monitor and Agent communications, permissions, agent services, privileged operations, and password policies.
New External Agent mode (Preview) for monitoring remote company computers without requiring a VPN:
Built on the widely trusted WireGuard technology.
Remote agents connect to your Monitor endpoint over a secure, encrypted tunnel.
Monitor company computers used from home, while traveling, or in branch offices, not just devices on the local network.
Works well in Microsoft 365 environments and does not require the Monitor server to resolve remote client DNS names, or connect to them.
No firewall or NAT changes are needed on the remote user’s network.
The Monitor endpoint can be hosted on your network or in the cloud.
External Agent mode is supported only on company-owned, IT-managed Windows devices that are joined to the organization’s AD domain or Entra tenant.
Personal devices (BYOD) are not supported by External mode.

fix: Idle time calculation fixed. In some cases, idle was recorded earlier than configured. Idle is now triggered only after the full 5-minute threshold is reached, which may increase reported idle periods by up to 5 minutes to reflect accurate inactivity duration.
Improved PDF reports for attendance (user sessions and idle periods)
Ongoing platform enhancements, fixes, performance optimizations, and security updates.
All updates are installed automatically, with no action required from your IT administrators.
SoftActivity Monitor and TS Monitor version 14.7 is now available.
This is a maintenance release that includes fixes and improvements. If you are using an earlier version, we recommend upgrading to ensure you have the latest updates applied.

Monitor app: added support for running Update and Repair Agent commands on multiple selected computers
fix: Agent update installation no longer uses the C:\Windows\SystemTemp folder, which caused false positives in some antivirus products. Updates now use its own dedicated folder that should be safely added to antivirus exclusions by IT admin to prevent interruptions.

email recording now supports “New” Outlook app.

SoftActivity Monitor and TS Monitor (our on-premise solutions) have been updated to version 14.4. This release continues to enhance employee productivity tracking and insider threat detection with several fixes, performance improvements, and security patches.
Key Updates in Version 14.4
[fix]: Now captures screenshots in so called progressive Windows apps (e.g., the Copilot app).
[fix]: Fixed an issue where, in rare cases, the end of a user work session was not recorded when a computer was shut down.
webapp: Upgraded to new fonts and resolved character display issues in certain languages.
[fix]: webapp – error about wrong date format on Attendance view.
webapp: improved PDF reports and fixed when text was not fitting properly on the page.
[fix]: webapp – Fixed an issue in some PDF reports where the date field in a table did not fit horizontally.
[TS Monitor] fix: Resolved a problem where user idle time recording stopped after 50 days of server uptime.
Numerous performance-related and other improvements, fixes, security patches.
webapp: discontinued support of PostgreSQL database old version 9.6. PostgreSQL version 12 or newer is now required to run the web console.
New PostgreSQL version 15.10 is bundled with the installation package. Only earlier versions 15 will be automatically upgraded during installation;
Customers who are still using old PostgreSQL 9.6 are advised to follow our upgrade guide and upgrade to PostgreSQL 15 manually. Unfortunately an upgrade from PostgreSQL 9 can not be performed automatically to avoid any data loss. SoftActivity app needs to be completely reinstalled.
You still have the option not to upgrade the PostgreSQL 9 server. In this case, you can still update SoftActivity, but the WebApp will not be updated. It should continue working, but will no longer be officially supported and may stop working in future versions.
